For my final 333 Animation I am looking at focusing on the
utilization of the 3-D cameras to create very interesting compositions by
creating a seemingly 3-D world with 2-D images. (ill explain later)
My Premise is as follows.
There is going to be a lone sea faring pirate that is sailing along the
sea at dusk. We see him holding a
pamphlet for a vacation spot called Atlantis, (it’ll basically look like a
pamphlet for a Sandals trip/cruise, kids
splashing in a pool, waterslides, rollercoasters, people drinking margaritas on
the beach… you get the picture) when a storm suddenly appears and after a
lightning bolt strikes the ship, it sends the pirate (and the ship) to the
bottom of the ocean. Once at the bottom
of the ocean the pirate begins walking along the ocean floor and comes across a
treasure chest. As the pirate opens the
chest he gets sucked into it and goes through a wormhole. A hole will then open up in the sky and the
pirate will fall to the ground with a loud thud. We see the pirate laying face down and as he
gets up and recovers he’ll look up to see that he has found the ACTUAL
Atlantis, he’ll continue to throw his pamphlet away and run full speed towards
the immaculate city. Roll Credits.
To create the 3-D world aforementioned, I plan to have the
entire animation exist within a single camera shot (except for a few close-ups
and cutaways)…. I’m having a hard time trying to think of how to explain the
look I’m going for… but, basically say for the first shots of the pirate
sailing, up until it gets hit by lightning, ill have the camera at a “Front
view” then once the ship and pirate start sinking to the bottom of the ocean
ill have the camera shift to a “top view” revealing more of the world around
the pirate and what would be seen from that view. Ill try to explain this better in person

March 14th - Present to group
March 17th - Take advise into consideration and make any needed changes
March 21st - Begin drawing environments and character
March 28th - Have character completely finished and made into a puppet / continue making backgrounds and things to add into scenes
April 4th - have all backgrounds/scenery/additions completed
April 11th - get everything laid out in After Effects / Camera movement tests
April 18th - Pull the entire project together / troubleshoot any problems
April 25th - have the project finished to show to class for comments/suggestions
May 2nd - Finish last additions and completely finish to turn in
March 17th - Take advise into consideration and make any needed changes
